Kindness For The Win
And the Oscar goes to….. Lady Gaga. The Oscars this year were an example of emotional reaction vs. empathy and kindness. I am going to talk about the latter, and how we need more of this in our world, in companies, in schools, and in communities.
I got you!
Lady Gaga reassures Liza Minelli, with 3 simple words (and physical attention to back it up) “I got you”. Imagine this same spirit, expression, and partnership residing in every space and place in the world. I do imagine a world like that, because I do believe in the power of love, and kindness, and that we are meant to be there for each other in a supportive, caring way. We underestimate the power of heart-centered living and heart-centered leadership, and in that, we miss out on values that could change everything for people as they work and live together.
Women supporting women is especially powerful.
This is our opportunity to rise to our greatest level and bring out the best in ourselves and in each other. I personally have experienced both the support of other women and I have experienced the tearing down. I am such a strong proponent of women supporting women because it is powerful. It stands for everything I believe in, and aligns with my value system. Teamwork, kindness, belief, positive spirit, empathy, encouragement, and empowerment to name a few. On the contrary, when we are not in that space, it brings out such an ugly and jaded side of women, which is difficult to tolerate: competitive, jealous, and undermining others in pursuit of standing out. It. Needs. To. Stop.
How do we do this? Where do we begin?
We begin with ourselves. We grow as a woman and as a person. We work on ourselves in becoming a better version of who we are and how we experience the world and others around us. We do not settle for the status quo of the people around us gossiping, putting others down, complaining, and blaming. We seek better. We surround ourselves with the people that lift us up. We surround ourselves with positive people, positive thoughts, and an open heart that not only believes in ourselves, but believes in the best of others.
As you go through your day and look at yourself and how you operate in the world, ask yourself how you support others? How do you fill your soul with good intentions and good thoughts and bring that out into the world? A smile at a stranger, a compliment to another woman, and deep recognition and encouragement to the people in your life.
This is how we do it. Do you want to be the light, or do you want to be the dark? Share your light with the world, beginning with yourself. It is in our simple interactions, and that will raise our vibe in the world. Women hold such power, and when we come together as a positive force, we truly will change the world!
