Having a Plan B
Having a Plan B in place is so important, no matter the endeavor.
Plan B is on my mind, as my company had to cancel our conference due to the Carona Virus. The first lesson was attitude, while many were disappointed, all were grateful that the company put the people first. It was a hard decision to make, but it was the right one. Even better, they came up with a Plan B - which perhaps has been in their arsenal should events get canceled due to natural disasters or states of emergency.
We will hold it virtually. It will actually offer more to all of us because every consultant will have the opportunity to participate. The lesson here? There is always another option. Be open to change.
This is not important to just business, it is important to our lives.
Having a Plan B
I learned the importance of this when I first started out in the industry of Direct Sales, new to the industry, eager to learn, and at that point, not earning an income.
My husband got laid off, and at that time and moment, an important light bulb went off for us—we did not have a Plan B.
I worked tirelessly for months to learn the business, develop clients, and build a team so that I could build an income. My business had a purpose, and it was to create a Plan B. While it was a challenging time, it also served as a realization that we had all of our eggs in one basket. This Momma Bird realized she needed to build another basket, and create a backup plan and dual-income.
Make Your Own Plan B
What is your Plan B? Do you even have one?
If you look at your life, your work, and the current situation, do you have a Plan B? If not, what steps can you take towards having a Plan B?
Having a Plan B not only catches you when you fall, but it also opens up to opportunity at times, something you have not considered, and perhaps a better answer or situation and protects what you have already done. Plan B can also relieve some stress, you are better prepared for unexpected changes.
If we go back to my Plan B in building a business in Direct Sales, not only did it fill that need, but it opened up an entirely new opportunity for my family for many years after my Plan B became my Plan A. It truly emerged and changed the trajectory of my life as a stay at home mom turned businesswoman and leader.
Having a Plan B Means Everything
I want to share feelings that I had before I really dove into my Plan B in Direct Sales: fear, judgment, uncomfortableness, weariness to name a few.
But, I persevered anyway. Those feelings of fear, the unknown the uncomfortable experience of being out of my comfort zone turned into the exact opposite only when I jumped in with two feet. They were replaced with excitement, confidence, faith, and action (which drove out the fear).
We all need a Plan B (and sometimes C, D, E.). Let this inspire you to look at your life and the various segments of it, so you can take steps toward having a Plan B today.
